My husband Tyler and I met in kindergarten, although I wouldn't say it was love at first sight. We actually didn't start dating until after high school graduation. We dated through college and were married in 2011. We have been trying to grow our family ever since. We have both always known we wanted to be parents, what we didn't know is that the road to parenthood would be this difficult.
After six months of unsuccessful attempts and irregular cycles, we sought help from our family doctor. She recommended an OB/GYN and we were put through every test imaginable. Everything appeared to be alright, so we just continued our efforts. Another six months passed and we hit the one year mark. This provided us with the official label of "infertility." Throughout the next year we would both undergo several tests and a few procedures. Still, everything appears "normal."
The past two years have been the most difficult years of our lives physically, emotionally, and mentally. It is frustrating to not know or understand the cause of our infertility and even more upsetting to know that our journey through infertility is only beginning.
We are working with reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist, Dr. Kuneck, at the Center for Reproductive Medicine in Minneapolis.
What provides me with comfort is knowing that I have an amazing husband who is always there for me and that we have such wonderful family and friends who are always keeping our struggles in their thoughts and prayers.
